KNOWLEDGMENT SPIRAL

Knowledge management goes beyond objective information processing and consists of access to ideas, insights, discoveries or visions and makes them organized so they are incorporated by new generations of students, work groups or social communities.

FMCSV understands intelligence as the ability to identify this relevant knowledge and cross reference it, so that its application and the best way to transmit it to the community can be analyzed.

This involves covering, in a disciplined, focused and continuous manner, all the steps of the spiral of knowledge, also depending on contributions from individuals and other organizations.

The figure below shows the steps of the process that start at the creation (or generation) of new knowledge and end at its incorporation and use by an individual, group or community (learning).

The creation stage is that in which ideas emerge, proposals for the use of existing knowledge or the transmission of information to a new group or individual.

The new idea is born rough, sometimes vague and incomplete. Thus, when it is outlined, it becomes a theoretical context, translated into a language that allows it to be relayed to and understood by others.

New ideas do not always generate the results expected. Therefore, it is essential to validate the new knowledge generated with prototypes, pilots, tests and checks of the limits of the range validity of the idea.

Lastly, once validated, the new knowledge will only have value if it is put into practice. As such, it needs to be disseminated and incorporated by the work group, a community or by society. The new concept, knowledge or idea has to be learned.

With learning and frequent use, a new standard of reference will arise bringing forth new problems and the development of opportunities, which in turn will generate data, information, ideas and visions. This will restart the cycle of knowledge generation at a higher level.

FMCSV operates within all stages of the spiral of knowledge, directly and indirectly, without claiming to be the sole owner of knowledge in a specific area. It tries to promote, disseminate and encourage society to absorb new knowledge, so that present and future problems have solutions. Therefore, in addition to acting directly in all stages of the spiral of knowledge, the Foundation will seek to integrate and also disclose the performance of other organizations in relation to its area of interest.

As an intelligence organization, FMCSV has the following characteristics:

  • Performs work that is more intellectual than operational;
  • The product of the work is knowledge, in all its forms;
  • Its relations are guided by the exchange of knowledge;
  • Intangible knowledge is more important than tangible knowledge, in services as well as in relations;
  • More than image or reputation, competence is what makes it stand out;
  • Innovation is necessary to overcome crises and the unexpected;
  • The organization promotes the development of the people who work with it;
  • The accumulation of knowledge favors sharing.
