FMCSV’s library was donated to the Hematology Service of ICHC-FMUSP at the end of 2006. It offers one of the largest book collections in this area, comprising 2,000 medical books aimed at Hematology. The library is also home to some rare books, such as the “Observationum Medicarum Rariorum” of Joannis Schenck II published in 1665.
The collection is set up in the amphitheater of the Hematology Service of ICHC-FMUSP, which was remodeled to adequately store and display the books. The area is also used for classes, lectures and thesis defenses. The amphitheater holds weekly clinical meetings of the Hematology Service of ICHC-FMUSP.
By January 2012 it will be electronically integrated to the Bireme System (a center specially created to develop the health science information programs of the Pan American Health Organization) and to the collection of the Medical College of São Paulo University.
